Clarksville Marina and Dry-Stack
Clarksville Marina on the Cumberland River in Clarksville
Tennessee has selected Sky Structures as the dry stack
structural engineering expert for their project. Sky Structures
has teamed with Maffett Loftis Engineering and Maffett and
Associates to provide dry stack expertise including
conceptual design, design for construction, and construction
support. The new facility will be based on Maff-Stack Storage
technology per a license agreement with Vertical Yachts
Storage Systems. The Maff-Stack system utilizes an overhead
bridge crane to transport boats from the water to the storage
racks. This will be the second boat storage facility
constructed using the Maff-Stack technology. The first facility,
The Port Marina in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida has been
operational since January of 2006 and has proven to be a
technological wonder setting four boat storage records.
The Clarksville Marina will accommodate 192 boats on six
levels. When completed, the structure will be approximately
105 feet tall, 100 feet wide, and 190 feet in length. Structural
design includes a deep pile foundation, steel super structure,
and open web roof trusses spanning more than 80 feet. The
building will be located in a flood plain susceptible to flood
water depths up to 8 feet. Maff-Stack technology was selected
for this project because it can easily accommodate the
challenges of the site.
